Applications

Our products are frequently used for the following applications (not limited to what is listed below):

Slide Agglutination Assays (latex agglutination tests):

  • Suggested Latex: 0.2µm to 0.9µm in diameter
  • For hydrophobic binding, choose polystyrene latex
  • For covalent binding, choose carboxylated or aminated latex
  • Ultra-clean or surfactant-free latex
  • Lightly-dyed green, pink, blue latex, or another color of your chose (custom synthesis)

Membrane Migration (Lateral Flow Immunoassays (Rapid Tests):

  • Suggested Latex: 0.1µm to 0.5µm diameter
  • Intensely-dyed blue, red or black latex particles, plain PS or carboxylated PS
  • (Multiple-ligands assays is possible with rain-colored particles as antibody carriers)

Particle Enhanced Turbidimetric (or Nephelometric) Immunoassays (TIA):

  • Suggested Lates: 0.02µm to 0.2µm diameter, low surfactant PS or surface modified particles

High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) Column Packing:

  • Suggested particles: PS Latex particles
  • Monosized PS Latex Particles with C.V.of 1.8% to 5%

Particle Size Measurement Calibration:

  • Size Measurements Certificated are Traceable to primary NIST standards: SRM1960, SRM1690, and SRM1601. Wide range of size standards are available.

Magnetic Cell Isolation or Protein Purification:

  • Positive or negative magnetic cell selection, magnetic bead enzyme linked immunosorbent ELISA assays

Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) Spacer:

  • Suggested Particles: 2µm or 7µm in diameter
  • Monosized PS/50% DVB compact microspheres of 5µm or 7µm in diameter

Fluorescent Cell Tracking:

  • Fluorescent nanoparticles/microspheres for stem cell labeling and tracking. We recommend our intensely dyed fluorescent particles; available in 5 colors from 30nm to 15µm.
  • For dying neurocell in chicken embryo, use yellow-green tracing fluorescent nanoparticles; 50nm or 100nm.
  • Can be used for visualization of colloid transport and retention in porous media.
  • Can be used for Fluorescent PIV (Particle Imaging Velocimetry)

Non-Spherical Particles:

  • Colloidal behavior of anisotropic particles (Non-Spherical Particles) provide an unique structure from their isotropic analogues spherical microspheres.
  • Counting particles by means of Opto-Acoustics behavior spherical and peanut shaped particles.
  • Asymmetric dimer based colloid crystals studies. Recommended product: PNT003UM.

Optical Chromatography:

  • Enhanced optical chromatography in microfludic system. Model PS Microspheres (refractive index n=1.59) verse model PMMA Microspheres (n=1.49) of the same diameter.
  • Recommended products for this application: PS002UM, PM002UM

Filtration and Membrane Study:

  • Porous media filtration studies using model spherical and non-spherical microspheres. Recommended Products: PS002UM, PNT002UM
  • Investigation of the entropic interactions between lamellar membranes and spherical colloid. Recommended product: PS800NM

Electrical Sorting:

  • Microfludial electrical sorting based on shape. Recommended Products: PS005UM, PNT005UM
